Ibis Edinburgh Centre, Royal Mile, Scotland: hotel review
I visited Edinburgh, Scotland in the summer and booked my stay through AccorHotels.com at the Ibis Edinburgh Centre, Royal Mile. Even though I booked three weeks in advance, I got a rate of 133 GBP per night, which I thought was very expensive for an Ibis. But I guess since it was summer and peak time for tourists to visit Scotland, I did not have much of a choice. At least, the location was good and I had read some great reviews on TripAdvisor about this property, so I went ahead and made the booking.
Well, I was not disappointed! I had a room that overlooked the church and the square that made me feel very connected to life in Edinburgh. I enjoyed hanging out at the window with a cup of tea in my hand, watching men and women - some of them dressed in traditional Scottish costumes - pass by.
Of course it was noisy, since I was right next to the main square but I preferred the view than to have a quiet room overlooking some garbage bins or a parking lot!
As with most Ibis properties, the room was small but comfortable, and definitely not as small as the Ibis Heathrow in London or the Ibis Kensington in central London - the rooms there were so small especially the one in Kensington that I thought I was staying in a bathroom!
But I definitely enjoyed the Ibis Edinburgh Centre, Royal Mile. The hotel had a good energy, the staff was polite and breakfast was good.
Location wise, it was perfect! There was a great Starbucks right next to the hotel and all major tourist attraction were in walking distance. In fact I walked up to the Princes Street to shop some clothes at Zara as well as the Edinburgh Castle.
