5 reasons to love Ingolstadt shopping outlet!
Ingolstadt Village is a chic shopping outlet conveniently located about 80km north of Munich, Bavaria, Germany. Since I have been there twice, I wanted to share with you why this shopping outlet is definitely worth a visit. Ofcourse it cannot be compared to the Desert Hill Shopping Outlet in California as far as brands are concerned, but it has it's own unique European charm and a quaint atmosphere that makes it very attractive.
1. Getting There
There is a regular shuttle service called the Shopping Express that runs every morning from Monday to Saturday and twice on Thursday and Saturday (when it also runs in the afternoon) from the Sofitel Hotel near the Hauptbahnhof (central railway station) in Munich center, direct to the Ingolstadt Village. The ticket costs about €20 for a round-trip and the tickets can be purchased on the bus. I always choose weekdays to shop as the village is less crowded and I can shop in peace. :) Ofcourse holidays and tourists seasons can be really crowded even on weekdays in which case you may want to buy your ticket online here. There is also a private limousine service available from Blackstar for those who desire and can afford true luxury and comfort. :)
2. Comfortable Shuttle Service with good timings
I really like that the Shuttle leaves from Munich at 9:30 a.m. and we arrive at the Ingolstadt Village around 10:45 a.m. Departure back to Munich is around 3:30 p.m. and arrival about 4:45 p.m. One gets only about 4 1/2 hours at the Village and with coffee and lunch, it's not much but the good thing about this is that I don't end up spending so much money. On Thursdays and Saturdays, you might be able to stay at the Village till 7:30 p.m. and return to Munich with the second shuttle service but please call +49 89 - 24 24 85 14 in advance to make sure you have a seat on the later bus! Alternatively you can consider spending the night at the beautiful and charming town of Ingolstadt located on the banks of the river Danube with a German history and tradition that you will love very much!
The Shuttle itself is very comfortable and they offer you water on the bus. It's also a great chance to enjoy some picturesque landscape of quaint meadows, mountains and streams on the way to Ingolstadt. I like to sit up in the front if possible for both front and side-views!
3. Collect Miles and get Tax Refund
If you are a Lufthansa Miles and More member, be sure to collect miles with your purchases at the village. Also every time you shop, ask for the tax refund form and tax money will be refunded to you at the Munich airport. Here is a list of many more travel partners of the Outlet. Tip: Carry your passport with you for the tax refund. Click here you will find a list of refund offices in Germany.
4. Brands I love
These are my favorite brands to shop at the outlet:
1. Gucci, Coach and Tod's for bags and shoes.
2. 7 for all Mankind and True Religion for jeans.
3. Jimmy Choo for shoes.
4. Hallhuber for formal and semi-formal clothes.
5. The North Face for casual sportswear.
5. Great ambience makes it a great shopping experience
I love arriving there and before anything else to have a nice cup of coffee at one of the open air cafes enjoying the calm, quaint village-like setting of the outlet. I was very pleased how clean and well-designed the restrooms were when I first went there. The village also offers complimentary dog kennels for two hours and dog trolleys can also be rented at the tourist office. There is free parking and more recently additional 900 free parking spaces also available! For more information visit ingolstadtvillage.com.
You guys, have a fun day shopping at the outlet and I am already thinking about the Tod's store there!
