A room with a view at the Park Hotel, Nancy, France
7th July, 2014, Park Hotel, Nancy, France.
Finally I arrived at my hotel in #Nancy-the Park Hotel conveniently located in walking distance from the railway station. Even though the hotel seemed a little old, I enjoyed a homely feeling there (or was it #France?:)). And thankfully I remembered to show the Lufthansa Miles and More Card at the front desk to get miles for the stay. It's always a great idea to collect airline miles from shopping and hotel stays for a free air-ticket or an upgrade. :) It is perhaps better to get an upgrade as one still has to pay taxes for a 'free' ticket purchased with miles; also a #freemilesticket may have restricted dates to fly.
Anyway, the best part of the day was still awaiting me as I drew open the curtains of the hotel room. Through the double glaze windows that cut out all outside noise, I had an almost surreal view of the city of Nancy--a beautiful Medieval Town with 18th century architecture. As I looked at the cobbled streets, the medieval-styled homes with sloping roofs and ancient chimneys, I felt almost transported back in time to an era of kings and queens wearing ballgowns and traveling by horse-carriages. Even though the view outside was such a sharp contrast from the modern 21st Century hotel room, the heart embraced both in deep gratitude to Life for bringing me thus far. Through the soundproof windows I could still hear the distant and dim gong sound of the bells coming from the city church and filling the dusk air with a mystical presence. It was a perfect ending to a day filled with many adventures. I left the curtains open and sank into a deep dreamless reverie.
