#Nice, France--celebrating gratitude!
Sometime ago I had posted some photos of my giro in Italia when I was a still a student--by the way, giro in Italian means a 'round' and can be translated here as 'my trip around Italy'; so now it's time for some français! I had also visited Nice in the French Riviera and from all the French I can remember, people said 'c'est bon' a lot, which means 'it is good', either while exclaiming something or asking a question or answering a question. For those of you who haven't quite gotten to the post on Italy, this was almost 15 years ago!
Nice was a fairy-tale land for me. I never saw the water adorning the earth in so many beautiful, deep shades of blue, expanding into the horizon and beyond, and embracing my whole being! It was mesmerizingly enchanting just to sit on the beach for several hours looking at the rich blue colors of the water as the waves crashed in, till there were no more thoughts. I had no consciousness of the people around me; it was my first time in France and I was just opening my eyes to the world--a world of beauty and love. :)
Alone I walked around the beach town not worried about the little money I had, just enjoying breathing the French air, peering into the little French shops, and occasionally treating myself to an ice-cream.
Today is Thanksgiving and I am deeply grateful to my father, who despite his incredible attachment to me, was able to let me go by myself to Italy to study and see some of the most beautiful places in the world--and all this when I was still a student! To my father, who is there somewhere in this surreal dream, beyond time and space....thank you and I love you. :)
