Here are 3 simple ways you can take care of your feet everyday!
The other day a friend asked me how I take care of my feet and this gave me the idea to share it with all of you here on my blog. Besides treating myself to a pedicure every now and then, I use L'Occitane foot cream, castor oil and foot scrubs to take care of my feet. Since I enjoy feet that are clean and soft and also smell nice, caring for my feet is an important part of my daily routine.
1. Foot file and scrub gloves
I found that the best time to use a foot file is immediately after a swim (if you are a swimmer ofcourse). You can also use it when you are taking a shower. However, if you have the time, it is recommended to have the feet dipped in soapy water for atleast a few minutes before using it. The one that I use (shown in the picture below) is from Earth Therapeutics that I bought from Whole Foods-it buffs away the hard dry skin on the feet very effectively and also can be used for other dry skin areas like hands, elbows and knees.
Another very convenient option is to scrub the feet with a Body Shop scrub glove while you are taking a shower. Ofcourse, it doesn't work as effectively as a foot file but the good thing is that it can be used almost every other day and it just takes a couple of minutes to get your feet nice and clean again. Even though I just use a shower gel with a scrub glove, you can also buy body scrubs to use with the gloves. Tip: Keep separate gloves for feet and body.
2. Foot cream
The foot cream that I have been using is from L'Occitane for dry skin. It also comes in a bigger size which is much more economical to buy. However, I also like this small size as it is good for travel and can go with me in my cabin bag.
After a good foot scrub, you can use this cream to make your feet feel delicately soft. :)
3. Castor Oil
Once, when my feet started smelling really bad and nothing was helping, the lady in the health care section at Lassens (the organic health food shop in L.A.), suggested using a few drops of castor oil on my feet every night before going to sleep. She also advised to put cotton socks after applying the oil. It certainly did help and I would recommend using it atleast a couple of times in the week.
