Love Actually

Love Actually is the love story of eight different couples filmed during the Christmas season
and their tryst with love. The film begins with a voiceover from David (Hugh Grant) commenting that whenever he gets gloomy with the state of the world he thinks about the arrivals terminal at Heathrow Airport, as friends and family welcome their arriving loved ones; for David this means that love still exists in the world.

To Rome with Love

Woody Allen is not only the director of To Rome with Love but also stars in this quirky comedy as Jerry, the father of Hayley, an American tourist, who comes to Rome for a holiday and falls in love with the son of a funeral director there, with still-to-be-discovered shower singing abilities that, thanks to the out-of-box thinking of Jerry, makes him an overnight superstar!

Kate and Leopold

I saw this movie after being on a 20+ hour long haul flight!--I was totally jet lagged and couldn't sleep so watched it on Netflix (thank the heavens for Netflix!). I did find the storyline a bit weak and less than convincing but for the incredible good looks of Hugh Jackman and some very cute scenes, I kind of enjoyed this movie. The good thing is that it's light and funny and can make you laugh without being heavy duty.

Music and Lyrics

Hugh Grant plays the very charming Alex Fletcher, a super sensational pop-star of the eighties whose career takes a dip after the rock-band he has been a part of, split up. In a desperate attempt to get his career back, he releases an album which sells only 50,000 copies and is a complete flop. Still living in his old memories, the current music sensation Cora Corman (Haley Bennett) approaches him to write a song for her--evidently when she was 7, his music had helped her to get through her parent's divorce.

#Breakfast at Tiffany's

This is got to be my all time favorite romantic movie! Audrey Hepburn plays the wildly daring, still endearing Holly Golightly, a young, beautiful, very fashionable but eccentric woman who mixes with the crème de la crème of society in the hope of finding a rich man she can marry. She has a cat who does not have a name, her apartment always looks like she has just moved in and her shoes she forgets in the refrigerator! Even though she is never able to have more than a couple of hundred dollars in the bank, she is crazy for Tiffany's, the only place in the world that calms her down and lifts her up! :)

Roman Holiday

Ok, so I am a big fan of Audrey Hepburn and I must warn you that I will be posting many of her films in this space! The first time I wanted to see Roman Holiday, I had just come back from a spiritual retreat and even though I had really wanted to see the film, I kept postponing the desire to see it. I am one of those persons who gets deeply affected by films and they stay with me for days so I was not very sure if I wanted to take a film in my mind space after the wonderful spiritual retreat.
