The devil wears Prada
The fashion blog is incomplete without having posted this film. One of my all-time favorites, I can totally relate to this film because I have worked with some of the big fashion houses in Milan and as a student of fashion in Italy, have also helped back-stage during the Milan fashion weeks!
Meryl Streep in her role of Miranda Priestly is perfect as she plays the shrewd and haughty editor of a top fashion magazine. Andrea Sachs played by Anne Hathaway, is an aspiring journalist who despite her poor dress, her size 6 and general lack of manners and no style, lands a job as the private secretary to Miranda, one of the most coveted jobs in the fashion industry. The movie shows how Andrea's loathing for all things fashion are eventually consumed by her passion to do her job right, and eventually how her job completely changes the way she looks and dresses up and even starts affecting her personal relationships.
I love everything about the film-the characters, their attitudes, the style, the clothes, the bags and the shoes.....and yes, I figure out there is also a moral to the movie that environment is stronger than will-power and how the company we keep can affect our true goals of life. A must watch film, it was also a super commercial success!
