Through the fields in a small village near Duesseldorf, Germany: a walk to remember
What happens when you are traveling to Europe in the month of May and thinking you'll have summer weather, you leave your down and trench jackets at home?!--Murphy's law starts operating, the temperatures drop to 4 degrees (celsius) and if your friend doesn't lend you her jacket, you either end up freezing the whole time of your vacation or spend a couple of hundred dollars in a new jacket that you don't really need!
But my friend Nicola has the kindest heart in the world and I can guarantee you that if you are with her and you are freezing, she'll remove her jacket for you! This is exactly what happened one evening when she gave me her lilac-pink trench as we were walking through the fields back to her home--she has a lovely old-styled elegant apartment in a little village near Düsseldorf. Thankfully, she was also wearing a sweater so I could borrow her jacket.:)
As the sun was going down behind the clouds, the fields started to vibrate with nuances of golden color and the trees, the river and the little village that lay ahead of us became wrapped in subtle shades of gold.
I was enjoying my new trench even though my friend is one size smaller than me. I especially got sold out to the color--a pink trench is something I definitely want to add to my collection. :)
It felt like a dream, so beautiful and so perfect except that my friend Nicola who is not such a fashion-addict, had cut out the label of the trench so I never figured out where it came from....probably Zara, she doesn't remember!
The fresh air, the mystical golden light and long empty roads filled me with a deep sense of peace. I could go on walking!
This magnificent old-styled apartment building in the village reminded me of the time when women used to dress in empire-waist gowns and men in elegantly-styled long coats and Jodhpurs with long boots.
I love totes and am so mad about my new Prada tote in argilla color that matched so well with lilac-pink trench!:)
Finally we approached the village street lined with so many cars but not a single person on the street! The village cathedral is at the end of the street. What I so love about Europe is the gong sound ringing from the churches every quarter of an hour. It fills me with joy, every time I hear it.
My new Prada ballet flats are super comfortable and stylish. P.S: It took me a long time to get the dirt off the soles from the walk though!
We found flowers on the way that matched the trench, the bag and the shoes!
A walk to remember...:)
