As an avid shopper and style lover, I have to be careful how much I spend on clothes every month, lest I dig into my savings to pay credit card bills! I have to confess that I have gone through cycles of shopping excess and many times have been knocked flat on the ground when I've spent more than I should have. This has always been a cause of great discomfort and unhappiness for me. This year despite my good resolve to keep the shopping under control, I failed miserably. As many times I tried, those many times I failed! But I kept on trying despite the failure and then one day I postponed what I wanted to buy and another day I simply ignored the desire to buy and then gradually after many days of ignoring and postponing and playing with the mind a bit, I realized I was not shopping as much till the time the habit of compulsive shopping completely disappeared!! This was a major breakthrough for me to be able to change a long standing addictive bad-habit of compulsive shopping into something like a 'moderate indulgence'. :)
Yes, 'moderate-indulgence' are the two keywords for me. I love clothes and style and nothing in the world can beat the warm, loving feeling of shopping in a beautiful Zara or a Nordstrom or a Burberry store. But now it's different-since I don't buy literally everyday like I used to (yes, everyday, can you believe that!), I am having a lot of fun buying at regular intervals and within the shopping budget for the month. So I really enjoy my clothes, shoes and bags and am also able to save money for the other good things in life. :) Here is what I want to buy next-Michael Kors ballet flats from shop.nordstrom.com with a matching top! I love shopping......moderately!
